How do I prep for a spray tan?

If you have a sensitive skin condition, please notify the technician before the spray tanning application. We do NOT spray over sunburnt skin.

Exfoliate your entire body with a non-oil based exfoliant prior to your tanning session. Pay extra attention to any rough patches including elbows and knees. If you do not have a body exfoliant you may use a washcloth and brown sugar to exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating the skin will remove dead skin cells and result in a longer lasting spray tan.

Waxing and shaving should be done at least one day prior to you spray tan. DO NOT do this immediately before your session!

Remove any makeup, deodorant or lotion prior to tanning. They will act as barriers to the sunless solution causing an uneven result.

It is very important to have clean, dry and exfoliated skin for your spray tanning appointment.

Be sure to wear dark or black loose fitting clothing and preferably flip flops. Any tight fitting clothing or undergarments will rub the solution off your skin resulting in splotches. Loose fitting dresses are generally the best way to go.

How can I make my tan last longer?

Let your tan set for at least 12 hours(overnight if possible) before being exposed to water. All swimming, showeringand vigorous exercise must be avoided during this time, as sweating can inhibit the development of your tan. Also avoid wearing socks or shoes after your tanning session in order to allow the tan to develop properly on your feet. Avoid wearing tight clothing for at least 8 hours. **Waiting MUCH longer than 12 hours may require two rinses to remove the cosmetic bronzer on the surface of your skin. Please DO NOT wait more than 24hrs to shower!** Rapid Rinse 1hr Light/2hrs Med/ 3+ Dark **

Remember: Your first shower should be a warm water rinse only. Avoid applying moisturizers or deodorants until after your first shower. Pat(don’t rub) skin dry.

During your first shower you will probably see some color wash off. Don’t worry! This is quite normal as it is only the color guide that the spray tan technician uses when the tan is applied. You will be left with a gorgeous tan.

Maintaining your spray

Do not shave for 24 hours after your treatment. After 24 hours you may use body wash (Be gentle! Avoid excessive scrubbing) We urge you to avoid bar soaps, DOVE, or alcohol based products, they will strip the color of your tan. The soap you use can make or break your tan! Most important is to keep your skin moisturized after your first shower and continuously until your next session. Avoid swimming pools and salt water, as these can reduce your tan.

*Your spray tan is not a sunprotectant. You can still get sunburned. Make sure you always use sunscreen

Your tan can last between 3-10 days depending on your before and after care.

The better prepared your skin is for the spray tan and cared for after will determine the longevity and quality of the tan. Investing in quality skincare will extend the life of your tan! www.sunnehouse.com
